FIRST VISIT

What to Expect

Our office, as well as the The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) all recommend establishing a "Dental Home" for your child by one year of age. Children who have a dental home are more likely to receive appropriate preventive and routine oral health care.

The Dental Home is intended to provide a place other than the Emergency Room for parents.

You can make the first visit to the dentist enjoyable and positive. If old enough, your child should be informed of the visit and told that the dentist and their staff will explain all procedures and answer any questions. The less to-do concerning the visit, the better.

It is best if you refrain from using words around your child that might cause unnecessary fear, such as "needle", "shot", "pull", "drill" or "hurt". The office makes a practice of using words that convey the same message, but are pleasant and non-frightening to the child.

We invite you to stay with your child during the initial examination. During future appointments, we suggest you allow your child to accompany our staff through the dental experience. We can usually establish a closer rapport with your child when you are not present. Our purpose is to gain your child's confidence and overcome apprehension. However, if you choose, you are more than welcome to accompany your child to the treatment room. For the safety and privacy of all patients, other children who are not being treated should remain in the reception room with a supervising adult.

All children will be encouraged to display positive behaviors at each visit with fun stickers and prizes. Each child will receive their goodie bag and a special prize at their first visit and their check up appointments. Prize drawings will be held at the end of each month for our No Cavity Club Members and their names will be proudly displayed in our clinic. Your child will receive the love and respect the way they deserve. We love all children like our own!

We strive to make each and every visit to our office a fun one!

Appointments

We appreciate your time. Therefore, to serve you better, we see patients by appointments only! Most of our appointments are at least 45 minutes. We take great pride to serve you well with the appropriate time needed to care for your child. So, if you are ever unable to make your appointment, we require that you notify us 48 hrs in advance so other patients may be seen.

We are now accepting new patients, please call our office for immediate appointment and let us help you make a positive dental impact in your child's life.

Inclement Weather

If the weather does not permit us to remain open, all scheduled appointments will be contacted by our appointment coordinators to reschedule at your earliest convenience. Due to increased demand, we no longer follow FCPS closings and our clinic will be open if condition allows. Please contact our office for further details. We will also be updating our closings via this website.

Insurance

We accept all PPO insurance plans whether we're in or out-of-network with your plans. We will file all claims for all services to your insurance companies as a courtesy to all families. Please call your insurance for provider verification if you have further questions.

We are committed to providing you with the best pediatric and orthodontic dental care possible and helping you receive maximum benefits. However, NOT all dental procedures are covered by your insurance and our staff cannot know all the limitation intricacies of your specific plans, therefore, it is important for you to learn all the specifics of your plan and understand your own policy. Insurance plans are NOT meant to cover everything at 100%. Insurance plans are designed to help cover some of the cost of treatment. We will design a treatment plan for you and let you know of your expected pre-estimates prior to performing most planned procedures. Therefore, all co-pays and deductibles are expected at time of services. Whether or not we participate with your PPO plans, we will file a claim with your insurance company as a courtesy to you for all covered procedures. However, all fees ARE ultimately the parent/guardian's responsibility.

The cost of treatment depends on your child's individual needs. Once you receive a treatment plan from our doctors, our staff will discuss with you the cost of your child's treatment, co-insurance, deductibles and benefits. Our staff is always available to help answer any of your questions regarding payments and insurance plans. If you have dual coverages, we will also coordinate benefits and file to your secondary insurance on your behalf as a courtesy to you. Affordable payment plans are available for you so your child can receive optimum care. We accept VISA, MasterCard as well as personal checks for payment processing.
